I have spoken to so many guys’ that have bought Tein Suspension components from forums and eBay etc and not known what they got themselves into. (2 last week alone) First of all, most Tein Coil overs will not bolt in with the original strut tops and require new Tein tops to fit correctly. The reason they sell them with out is for guy's that already have pillow ball top mounts or the H/duty Tein rubber mounts. Secondly, Tein Japan does not warrant any (ANY) product that is sold out or leaves Japan. This is up to the countries (Official) Distributor that gives thema 2year/40000km warranty. How do they know? Every single Tein component has a serial number which can be tracked and there are some business’s in Australia that are grinding these numbers off as not to be tracked back to there source mainly in Hong Kong and they even cut off the part number label on the box as this also has the serial number and when you receive the Tein Box it will have been all taped up again as they have removed the parts for grinding. I bet you people will read this and check their Tein coil overs and find no numbers. Thirdly, all Tein coil overs that are Australian Spec have their part numbers starting with QS. I hope this will help someone out there. This post has been edited by eur0: Feb 10 2007, 10:27 PM |

The warrenty thing is with everything, not just Tein. You can take your Jap spec ones to Fulcrum and get them fixed... but not under warrenty. |

QUOTE(20VGT @ Feb 11 2007, 02:25 PM) A friend of mine recently bought some Tein items for his Laurel, and whilst his old JIC pillowball tops would not bolt on......his factory strut tops DID. The Teins have different design top to the JIC,Cusco etc. Yes this would ensure people use Tein tops with Thier coilovers......but on S13 style coilovers the factory tops certainly DO fit. your a liar!!! Atleast i hope you are. I just bought a set of cusco camber tops to put on my teins?? Havent got them yet but they are on their way |

Havent got them yet but they are on their way You can normally adapt pillow ball camber tops fairly easy useing sleeves and spacers between the top spring plate. Just becareful that the movement of the pillowball isn't restricted to cause lock up and that the distance between the top mounting face and the top of the spring seat is the same or less as this will raise the vehicle if it is more. The other problem with the DC5 is that if you try to go full neg camber with some strut tops you run out of toe adjustment and will end up with too much toe out as the rack ends bottom out in the tie rod ends as the rack ends will need to modified. But this is for race use as you wouldn't drive around the streets with 3 degrees neg on the front wheels! Cheers |

As mentioned above the warranty thing isn't anything special. It happens on everything, be it a car part, electronic gizmo or entertainment system. They're what's referred to as 'grey imports', the warranty will only be valid in the original country the product was sourced from - more common on Ebay than anything else. Everyone has a register of product serial numbers when the product arrives, so if it's not on there, say goodbye to local warranty. |

Cheers i just bought a WHITELINE camber kit to put the rear camber back to 0'. not sure what person would run around with just coilovers and put -3' front camberon a DC5r .... my car runs with -1' to -1.5' at the front... i think. |
