hey there i wanna turbo my 94 charade CS(it has the 1.3 H-CE motor in it). now i was just wondering whether i can use most of the turbo gear off of the old starlet GT's as they are also a 1.3 4cyl, i know there are some things i cant use such as the exhaust manifold (mine will have to be custom made) but can i use the main things such as turbo, intercooler, and the other small things....? also how much boost will the stock internals on the charade take? or am i better of just buying a 4EFTE halfcut and dropping that in? -------------------- QUOTE We were taught to know the difference between right and wrong and to stand up and take responsibility for our actions. what happened to us? Also my GRANDMOTHER going "tampons are like mini penises. Only they last longer and don't mind being covered in blood." Which was sick and made me want to both laugh my arse off and vomit. |

You can use a G200 motor in them. |

QUOTE(Rolla_ball @ Sep 25 2006, 08:10 AM) it is a g200, or do you mean the g200 series 2 Ignore that bit, misread your original post. For some reason I thought you said it was the 1.0L model - that's what happens when you answer posts when it's been a long day ![]() But still send a PM to 'Tom Tucker', he seems to be our resident Charade man and has/had a clean example. He should be able to point you in the right direction. ROCK ON R~R |

To be honest, i wouldnt be looking for a starlet turbo, as they are the first thing that GT owners piss off. |

so how much would i be looking at using used parts where i can such as the TD04 (which sounds like a better choice now), a little top mount, and all the other little bits and peices... im not too fussed about labour costs as the guy up the road can do it for a few slabs off piss. |

Depends on what you can do yourself... |

mmm.. nice doesnt sound too bad at all. for the exhaust drop that price to about 50-100 coz my cuzin works at a stainless steel shop and he can get me 2 1/4" piping for nuthin all i need to buy is the brackets and those plates to connect them together(omg that sounds so bad, sorry cant remember what their actually called) |

Why not just get a CB70 or a CB80 990cc 3 cyl Gtti Charade motor (or 1/2 cut if you can find one) comes factory with forged pistons etc a very strong motor. My old charade with this motor ran a flat 14 at 100mph with cr@p radiator hoses for intercooler piping, a 2 1/4" press bend exhaust, no dump pipe off the turbo (on these motors that is a BIG improvement as the exhaust is about a 1 inch out of the turbo) and 20psi (which the turbo, even without the dump pipe, could hold to 8000rpm) |

ok update... i been to check out prices.. a guy is willing to part with a VF34 turbo and a little front mount for $300, i think this is pretty good but he said to only run it at about 5-6psi coz i dont wanna play with my internals and its only a little turbo, now i can get the custom exhaust manifold made for about $300-$350... |

depends on how much "scope" the ecu has. |

Another turbo charade! Solid! I suggest you do what I did, use a t28 or even a t25. Get a just jap cooler. The hardest thing to do is finding someone to make a manifold. You then have to get rid of your radiator and get a twin core radiator from a gtti. You also have to fit a tps and ignition module, and of course a new ecu, I had a microtech. You then need to find bigger injectors, I had 390cc gsr injectors. Then get your exhaust and cooler pipes done together. Prob a few other things, pm me if you want details |

hah nah i dont want big power to start with i was just thinking of running it a 6psi on the street... how expensive are the twin core radiators?? i got told i wont need to do bigger injectors coz im not running big numbers. how much was ur piping worth? and what size did u go to for the zorst? |

6psi is a waste of time man. If you have a turbo, use it. The twin core radiators are around $350 new. You will need bigger injectors, last thing you want to do is lean out. Piping was around $500, but I got staino which is more expensive. And I had a full 3" exhaust, thought it might hinder low end torque, but it was ok, I think mostly because of the size of the turbo. You should go 2.5inch. |

QUOTE(Rolla_ball @ Oct 6 2006, 03:16 PM) yeh but the thing is that i have a 4cyl 1.3 now... why go backwards to a 3? i have been looking around at prices and stuff and it should be done in the next few months coz i am starting to go around and pick up a few little bits now... i have the TDO4 at home and u front mount to go with it... paid $300 for it all up Mate thats like saying, I want to turbo my holden 3.8 then turning down the option to use a 3.0 Supra Twin turbo 2Jz motor because it is smaller than the 3.8. i.e STUPID. Why use the 3 cylinder motor ? Because it is, 1.faster, even in standard form. 2. stronger (forged pistons etc are standard like an evo motor for a mitsubishi) 3. cheaper (you should get the whole deal with an uncut loom and ecu for under $2000 4. It bolts straight in, no fabrication by your 'cuz' required, so it is generally easier for a twat with no clue to change over with his 'cuz' using pits of pipe and 'flanges' in a garage. Also this would be a factory turbo motor so no unexpected dramas but hey, you don't seem to be taking the slightest bit of advice about anything from anyone who knows what they are on about so go build your bitsa and I will come and buy the shell and parts off ya for $500 in 6 months when you get sick of looking at it in the garage and finally realise you wasted a crapload of money for nothing. I'll put bets on this never going any further than you getting your hands on an old clapped out turbo and putting it on top of your shelf so you can tell your friends, 'I'm turboing my car!'. Look closely next time buddy, you will see them all rolling their eyes ![]() Get a clue and stop dreaming. People are trying help you here, they aren't here to indulge your keyboard fantasy, so listen to what they have to say. Turboing your engine = $4K+(cheapskating it too) , then you gotta not run too much boost and hope the engine holds together for more than a few months. YOUR CUZ AINT GONNA MAKE IT CHEAPER IT WILL HIT THIS PRICE AS A BARE MINIMUM. Convversion motor..... up to $2k then it has to be put in and have an exhaust and maybe some intercooler piping made up + odds and ends so $2500 or so total, with your CUZ helping and using only flanges on the exhaust for full bodgy effect. Thats without labour on either one. Absorb it, it is correct information and no amount of 'nah man, but i'm gonna' will make it ANY cheaper than the above prices (they are a little optimistic but about right in my view) because what you are failing to register is that everyone offering you advice has 'Nah man you don't understand, i'm gunna....' at some stage too, and as they have matured they have realised the error of their ways and are now trying to steer you clearr of falling into the same trap, not rain on your parade. So take it on board and stop thinking its just a few pipes and lines and a turbo, its a MASSIVE job..... After all, what should i know, i've only been a mechanic for 6 years and done about 000 engine conversions and turbo installations on non turbo vehicles, and you will probably find alot of others offering advice here are mechanics or something similar anyway, but hey you have watched a few fast car DVD's and ripped a skid in the carpark, you know more about cars than all of us.. ![]() |

^^ hahaha. You've got a point, the CB70/80 is a great little motor. Haven't heard of anyone blowing one. My mate's gt25 blew before the motor even noticed the actuator vacuum tube comming off, probably hit 40psi haha. Only prob with the cb70 though is parts availability, plus they're getting pretty expensive now. |
