QUOTE(Mosus @ Apr 14 2009, 08:18 PM) i'd like to see how this turns out, was thinking of doing a simlair thing to mine good work so far ill take pics as i go if i remember, i have to relocate my radio aerial first an fill the hole in. and i have a water trap in that guard so i will have to take that out too. i have surgery next week so then i have 4 weeks off so i have plenty of time to do it. im not 100% on how i want to attach it to my pillar yet, i was thinking of a bit of stainless angle welded to it with some clearance holes and a couple of short tek screws |

QUOTE(MJ187 @ Apr 11 2009, 01:27 PM) Got that made for me at Nerang performance and 4x4. was $800 fully fitted and everything, didnt have to do a thing, thats also using 3.5" pipe, its much cheaper to use 3" pipe and i got more bends than needed because of the 80 series body shape, makes it a bit harder to bend around the mirror and keep it flush with the body, you wont have the same issues with a lux as they are very different and its much more simple, so it will be also cheaper for that and if u use 3" pipe which is enough for a lil luxy. also its only $150-200 more than it is to have a plastic one fitted so its not that much more for something special. =] That looks great. Does anyone know where in Brisbane I can get one of these done? The bigger the diameter the better for me. I also have an 80 series, but with a turbo 6.5L V8 Chev engine, so the more airflow the better for me. |

My dizzy has a rubber glove pulled over it now with leads coming out the finger holes and zip ties everywhere... it's almost water tight. it really just means i can go through really big puddles... not swimming though. |

i found a rubber grommet for $2 at clark rubber to fill the old antenna hole, i just sealed the bare metal around the hole with primer before i pushed it in. the snorkel should hide most of it. also bought a new 83mm hole saw, for the 90' stainless bend to sit in. |

marked out an cut the first hole for the snorkel this arvo i have to elongate the hole tomoro so that the 90 degree bend sits tight against the body. QUOTE(tuff33 @ Apr 22 2009, 09:08 PM) just lost the winning bid. i was up with 10 secs to go. spewin haha |

QUOTE(laynlow @ Apr 23 2009, 09:12 PM) are you going to have a ram head like you see on most plastic snorkels or put a 45 degree bend on the top facing the rear of the ute so as not to get dust and water in it? plan is to use the plastic air ram i already have facing forward to help force air in when highway driving. then for when im wheeling i will spin the head around an put the pre-filter sock over the air ram head. |

used the angle grinder to shape the hole in the guard for the bend. used 250mm of flex with 2 good hose clamps and some rubber spacers to get the joins super tight, water tight (hopefully). |
