We're hearing that Qld State Traffic Task Force may have setup defect stations in the Yamanto precinct targeting Powercruise entrants. If anyone has any personal experience or photos of the police please share. This is obviously poor form by QPS to target an event that "takes it off the streets", but rather than being political about it I'm just posting this to spread the word. -------------------- :: BoostCruising :: The Automotive enthusiasts site with extensive Car Sales, loads of Car Parts, mags, wheels and Tyre Sales, along with subs, tweeters, head units, speakers, heaps of Car Audio. Over a million Aussie's can't be wrong!

UPDATE: A couple people are suggesting that this report is about a standard Department of Transport operation that targets only trucks, so this might be a chinese whisper / false alarm and that the police are just doing routine checks on cars. People are quick to jump on the "DEFECT STATION!!!" bandwagon upon seeing police/DOT. |

People are quick to jump on the "DEFECT STATION!!!" bandwagon upon seeing police/DOT. ^ this - frustrates me all the retards posting on facebook OMG defects over the smallest things Yeah pretty sure its just DOT doing log book checks on Truck drivers. They usually only defect when cars are leaving powercruise |

Here is a different viewpoint for the tards, how about keep your street registered and driven vehicle, totally street legal. If you don't want to follow the rules, don't fn cry when you get caught. I am against police targetting ecvents etc, but the onus is always on the operator of the vehicle to ensure it complies with the relevant rules and regulations. |

If you are worried, borrow a car trailer or pay for a tilt tray, have a great day, cut loose to your hearts content, then just drop it back home. Plates off of course, in case you get one of those total fwit officers. Apparently people were getting done for cars on trailers if they had plates / reg stickers on. Not sure how... say you get into a crash and your vehicle needs towing, they can defect it? Just seems stupid to target people who are going out of their way to NOT break the law |

If that were the case police could defect smashed cars on tow trucks |

I am so over the "holier than thou" attitude of those like vk134 i am sure you could be defected if they looked but the point is police should be targeting all cars not just modified ones instead they setup out side of events where they know they can defect you for what ever they want and get away with it. |

If that were the case police could defect smashed cars on tow trucks It can happen, there was a guy on here i think who had his car defected while it was sitting at the panel shop waiting to be repaired after a crash. They got him for things that had happened as a result of the stack. Granted it was at the front of the panel shop on the nature strip but as the story had it the repairer had just moved it to shuffle some other cars around. |

Although i think VK134 has a point.. if you modify you car and know its not to standard you have no right to complain about getting done for it.. much the same as speeding if you're speeding and you get caught you shouldnt complain you shouldn't of been speeding in the first place. however targeting car events is 100% revenue raising. (as are the hoon laws) more than 30% of road fatalities in 2011 were cause by drink drivers and less then 4% were causes by illegally modified cars... if this was about road safety they be setting up outside the pubs or blocking the highway coming out of Brisbane city in the early hours of saturday morning and RBTing every car. the real question i have is: why is "driving or starting a car that makes excess noise" a Type 1 hooning offence... while drink driving is a far less severe Type 2. my theory is politicians like to have long boozy lunches and need to get home |

^ That is fn crazy, you have some fwit officer with his uncalibrated ear determine your car is too loud, so it is impounded for 90 days, yet Johnny Shitbox in his unregistered VN, pissed and speeding can have 2 goes at it before 90 day inpoundment. |

thats part of my issue... "Wilfully starting a motor vehicle or driving a motor vehicle in a way that makes unnecessary noise or smoke" very vague.. it applies to car audio as well.. it actually used to have a defined value to it (99db at 1m or something similar to that) So giving a diesel a bit of throttle, giving off a puff of black smoke is cause for 90 day impoundment? gg governement |

I agree with 180sc, i can bet my dollar that if they wanted to they can defect your car too. |

Just remember- as long as your car is legal you have nothing to worry about. That concept relies far too heavily on: - police knowing the laws they are enforcing - police having any form of mechanical aptitude - and you having the time/resources to argue it in court if they dont. So, even if your car IS legal, then you certainly do still have plenty to worry about. |

If it is true that the cops are targetting these cars , when we are all trying to do the right thing and thrash our cars off the public roads, its sickening. I hope it is only setup for trucks. I believe QPS is somewhat smart tbh,yes you are thrashing your "possible" defective car off the streets but they are targeting the car getting there and back. No doubt more than half of the cars attending will be defective. |

Good god. Not ONLY are the police doing what we pay them to do (enforce the laws, be they right or wrong), but they are even daring to efficiently use tax-payer money by actively seeking out the locations where the maximum number or law-breakers can be found! What is the world coming to?! |

Half of the defects they go for are just for revenue. Years ago they were checking cars on trailers but getting the owners to take the car off the trailer to checkout the trailer then defected the car along with unreg uninsured. All I can say to any cops out there i own a modified car half the mods are considered illegal but the car has not been made unsafe it is safer than stock. I am an enthusiast NOT a hoon. Just for the haters it is now a track car because i have taken it off the road permanently so i don't loose it. |

Holier attitude??? If i had half the knowledge that vk134 had i would be a happier man i tell you now, he hit the nail on the head... modified or not keep it legal and you wont have any problems... Yes... first offence for high range drink driving results in a slap on the wrist. But, first offence for 'driving in a way that makes too much noise' results in a 90 day impoundment of the vehicle. Must be different here in N.S.W first offence or not high range gives pretty harsh penalties... Not sure about impounding of their car but licence suspension and possible goal time... |

Police will be near th exit defecting... I would put money on it... I got defected for no rear highlight on my Silvia.... So this car had poorly filled in boot holes (completed by the previous owner), not terrible, but enough to tell it used to have a spoiler... So yeah, defect and Fine! My car now has a small strip of led lights in the back window where the spoiler brake light wold have been. Shits me because other silvias have no spoiler and that ok :-S Oh, an full roadworthy check because of this.... I mean FFS !! |

no, if his car came out factory with a spoiler / brake light, then it's required to be fitted and working. |

Well, if you think about it. When a famous person or a politician get caught dd, they only get a slap on the wrist. But, they get driven around anyway. |
