Yeah it will be because the current cooler is a 480x300x75 or something (600-630 is the total length). The amount of charged air flowing through it would be struggling.
Hopefully with the 100 thick 600x300 should be a bit better. New cooler was 220 with a supposed .2- .5 drop at 15psi. Capable to handle 1000hp or some shit.

But i'll get the intercooler changed and get the dump sorted out, and reckon we will be on our way to 500hp. Then i guess gearbox upgrade additional pump, and half shafts possibly.

when does it ever end lol. 600x300x100 will be heaps good enough for the power your chasing.

Has anyone had an issue with their shift linkages on the auto transmission?

Seems to be mine has started a tapping noise in park and neutral, but I start driving and then dont feel/hear it.

I will check over the weekend, but feels like the shift linkage is tapping on the rubber coupling off the auto transmission, which if its happening in park doesn't make sense as it shouldn't spin??

sounds good you will love e85 its so much better than pump fuel. sc400 turbo? sounds like a borg warner turbo? its good to see other people using not just the regular gt35/t04z style turbos

yeh mate thats the brand this set up was making 780hp fro memory on my mates 1.5jz celica running 8.8 1/4, he had no porting and stage 1 cams, so hoping this turbo set up will work well with my porting and cam size,

hows your car goin mate?

BARRET, saw your car at EFI the other day, looking sleeper big time but i do like it, you keeping the s14 wheels on it?

well I had a good score on Ebay,
Picked up a 95 festiva 5 speed for $820 with rego till Jan woot!! its got hail damage on the front but who cares. it will get me to work and back on an oily rag and cost bugger all to maintain

so now I can build a man spec 1j instead of a rough and tumble hope it works out ok 1j haha and fix all the random things you cant do when you need to get to work tomorrow etc

Nah was going to change the rims. I have been eyeing off some rota RKR wheels (similar to superlite) give it more appeal hopefully.
I didn't mind the rims either, but is looking very very standard.

Think my IAAC just shaft itself, as its sucking a fuckwad of air and hunting between 1500 to 2500rpm or so. Will replace it tomorrow and hope that it will fix the issue.

yeh mines going good we did a ramp on the dyno tonight before we change turbos and it made 567rwhp on 26psi still with massive wheel spinning dramas, but hopefully will give me a good back to back test against the precision turbo

sleepercorty
Post #1832

so tested garrett t66 vs to4z and results are pretty well as i thought, turbos are identical only difference is plain bearing for t66 and ball bearing for to4z. turbo was changed while the car was still strapped on dyno same tune nothing changed, t66 actually made 7 hp more on 2 pound less boost but its close enough to call them same. for all you die hard ball bearing turbo lovers it was definately no better for lag.
will be testing new turbo next week

blackers10
Post #1833

that is rather interesting!
so what RPM is it coming on boost at?

sleepercorty
Post #1834

comes on boost around 4500rpm end of those dyno runs is around 9000rpm, so im really hoping new turbo is no laggier but makes more power

yeh it runs e85 daily, i go to ipswich and fill up 400 litres from the pump about every 3 months. that tune is how its been driven for the last 9 months same tune it ran 10.2 134mph. its still a pretty basic setup, camshafts and ported head on standard motor, 6boost manifold, 45mm turbosmart gate, t66 turbo, 1600cc injectors and twin walbro intank pumps micro tech computer. if the new turbo makes 600rwhp on 30psi i will be happy will go back and run a 9 then do cage and see what 40psi does

I have my dyno sheet which made 370 on about 19psi with a t04z.

I have been advised I am witnessing pressure drop and have two things I will be sorting out to solve some restriction issues.
Soon to fit the 300x600x100 cooler and upgrade the current dump/exhaust system with a 3.5" as apposed to the current 3" exhaust system.

Would I see a considerable amount of difference with these two items being upgraded?

Current cooler is only a cheap 480x300x75.

I am hoping after these two items being sorted out, that I will raise the boost to 25psi and hopefully without major pressure drop.

your intercooler is starting to get small but wouldnt imagine it to be holding power back a great deal, same with dump pipe. you definately will notice a difference but if your going to start pushing 25+psi if you upgrade dump and intercooler. how did they measure pressure drop or was it just a guess? my 1jz made 450rwhp with same turbo as you and 19psi through a big convertor and pump fuel so somethings holding you back

I do have a cast iron manifold I purchased from the u.s. which has a slight port on it for 200 bucks, and curious as to what pound spring are people using on their wastegates?
Could that be a possibility with flow and performance of a great deal?

I am pretty sure I have a 1 bar spring in my 44mm wastegate. Considering speaking to Kyle to get a manifold made and get pretty much all the hot side re-done.

kyle definately knows what he is talking about with manifolds, the reason i tested the to4z vs t66 was because he had one sitting there and we both wanted to see back to back results so my car was the test dummy

6boost manifold been ordered. My dump will require fab work, or a total redesign. Is there an exhaust specialist that someone could recommend?

I was thinking of right price exhausts as I have had minor work done there and has been good, but a bit worried about a whole new dump to cat setup as there not the greatest bit of room to work with.

Hey Corty, Regarding your previous comment of making 450RWHP on Pump and 19PSI, I was wondering what Injectors you were running?
Cause i looking into getting bigger injectors, I have 550cc atm and making 420RWHP on 20PSI on pump.

Just wondering if purchasing bigger injectors is worth it.
Cheers.

It will be a good indication whether the manifold I currently have was any good to start with in comparison with Kyles manifold.
Can't wait to put it on and may go to a 3.5 dump to cat. Kyle did mention though the 3" system should be sufficient.

See how much power increase I can get.

bigger dump will be better and as for the 3inch you will still make good power.

Has anyone got any further dyno sheets handy to compare from my setup and similar power or same boost and engine etc?

Just want to see where mine seems to fail, and pin-point what maybe the real issue. I believe it is going to come down to my cooler and manifold?

Are alot of people running 3" intercooler pipes? I am thinking of changing to a nice kit of 3" pipes from the 2.5.

Really does my head in when i should be making decent power on decent boost or in comparison to others falling behind.

as long as your intercooler pipes are bigger than the compressor wheel in your turbo they are not a restriction, so you have a 66mm compressor wheel and 2.5 inch intercooler pipe is 63.5mm so wont hold you back to bad at this point but more boost and 3 inch intercooler pipes will make an improvement. id definately go to the 3.5 inch dump if your going to the effort of the 6 boost manifold

I was just looking through an old message on the comp when my car had a proboost t66 and made 374hp on 17psi. Was only oiled cooled and plain/journal bearing im pretty sure.

when i did my last 98 pump tune and it started miss firing due to ignitior/ coils we backed it off to 17psi and made 449 with 35r and 870cc (far from max on the duty cycle). it still had plenty in it so you should be up there baz maybe abit less with the auto? only a matter of time before you work it out. then it will be your coils like mine did lol.

Anyone have some bigger injectors for vvti for sale? I'm running 303rwhp on 8psi and the injectors aren't far off their limit. I want to run gate pressure cause it's easy but that is 14psi. Not sure if they will like it too much...

the dyno i use is always pretty close going by the mph i run when it made 450rwhp i ran 11.00 @ 124mph which is spot on for the weight of the car, i also ran 10.2 @ 135mph with the 567rwhp tune. part of the reason mine makes good power is the cylinder head and camshafts, the guy i bought the head off had spent around $2000 just getting it ported, other thing is it doesnt cost me for dyno time so have spent alot of time on the dyno getting the tune spot on. what i save on dyno time i spent on upgrades lol.

what mph did you run last time you raced? that will tell you if the dyno you use is giving you a proper power reading

Buying a project mx83 Cressy with a 1UZFE, will turbo, maybe twin..
Will be smoothing the body and re-spraying, probably dark metallic or pearl red.
