Used my choke once when I drove my ute as a daily many moons ago, and that was on a freezing cold winter morning as I was running late for work and couldn't sit in it to warm it up. Wouldn't idle by itself in winter for a warmup.

Thats cause it sounded better idling really slowly. I fixed that issue by adjusting the revs quite a bit higher. Would have loved to have known what i'd set it at. My guess was around 900-1100. Lol.
Was also quite alot more driveable after that.

Choke works on the HR but I won't use it as it's not required here in QLD.

Lazy mans idle.

Choke... Pffft. Nothing better than a 7.2L small block with a cranky ass cam trying to idle...

Oh wait, i sold that motor sad.gif

Need to find somewhere in SE QLD that can do acid dipping for my bonnet, does anyone know anywhere?

no more holdens
Post #1653

Look into dipping in molasses
Cheap as shit
Get a big tank , dropa few litres in then fill with water
Leave it a few days
Then spray with lanolin, keeps the surface rust at bay

I've made atleast 10+ orders through JEGS - awesome people to deal with. Cheapest parts I can find and if you find cheaper they beat it, decent postage (for US stuff anyway - keep in mind they use FedEx express), gets here in a few days and a massive range.

Only ever had the one problem which wasn't actually there fault - the manufacture didn't include a part of a kit. Called / emailed them and they got back to me in a few hours, apologised and made the manufacture send the missing part to me express postage.

Will be making another order in the next couple of days once I call up the bank, haha.

What are you looking at getting?

Jegs is so goooood, cheap as but they get you back in postage fees.

Also just brought a new set of shocks for the ute and A front end rebuild kit a!

Fedex have a standard fee to start with, so you're always better off getting a few things together than ordering one small part at a time.

I should really post up here when I'm making my orders to see if anyone wants to throw stuff in.

Summit gives you an exact postage cost before you type in your credit card details.

-Jordan-
Post #1661

That's new - I always had to enter all my details before as my account didn't work properly. Once you have an account set up for JEGs you can just click checkout and see the postage.

Looks like JEGs give you options for postage now too... never seen that before.

Yeah i think them and summit are pretty comparitive. Does jegs offer deals like 15% off etc?

Getting a Lokar column shift cable so i can mate my t400 up to my column shift, the original ones go for well over $400 and im not paying that, so ive found lokar make this cable setup to suit chevelle/nova/camaro and anything thats column shift that has a t350/t400.And its LHD and RHD compatible!! I cant even find anything similar in this shitty country.

And ill end getting up a new throttle cable and some bits for my holley and probebly an air cleaner and gauges and some more shit that i dont want to pay top dollar for over here.

I think ill use Jegs, there page is a lot easier on the eyes to me and it looks nicer.

I don't think they have the same kind of offers like that. They do have a constant 'specials' page, freebies when you buy certain things etc.

Ecklers send me emails every week with 10/15% off, but I refuse to use those guys unless I really have to.

ha, maybe. It's one of the best looking Camaros I've seen in ages - almost makes me wish I continued with the vinyl wrap (almost...)

And yes, I'm well aware of what is under the bonnet. tongue.gif

Jegs does do budget shipping to Australia, just need to deal with the right people which drops the shipping costs down considerably.

I use a mob in the US called Drag Car Race Parts, they beat Jegs/Summit prices constantly and not by small amounts. They also send via budget if you so desire, I've bought a fair bit of gear off of them.

I'm liking the look of that seat, is it the factory pattern with new leather overlayed on it ?

clutch-monkey
Post #1678

yup i had a standard seat frame, ripped all the rotten vinyl and foam off it and my uncle built it up from scratch in the same pattern - better fit and finish though.
could have bought some new cobra bucket seats but that felt like missing the point.. feels better restoring it imo.
