Now can you see why I was umming and ahhing lol.

The heads are built to suit this bottom end too, I'll post specs when I get them.

Bottom end came with HQ mounts, sump etc, only thing I need is the starter and exhaust.

Purchased a brand new MSD Pro Billet dizzy last week for cheap for it as well and picked up a set of Crane Gold Roller Rockers with posilocks off Ebay for $100 lol

A mates Hr, Ended up being too far gone. So she got this treatment lol :hsdance: Bogan as fuck yo. Theres a piece of tin under the wheel which we threw oil on and the front of the car is against his next door neighbours fence. Neighbour is an old lady and was like " ay you boys better not be lighting something on fire " haha :o

Well looks like I might be stripping the 308 rather than selling it as a whole, which although is a pain, works out much better for me monetary wise in the long run.

Just bought dirty as shit wheels, anyone have some degreaser/cleaning agent that they swear by? My koala kare stuff isn't working, it's failed me. I've also tried maguires car wash detergent, however i didn't expect that to do anything. which it didn't.

Why couldn't this person have been easy on their brakes :headwall:

autosol dude try that? if there's no protective layer on the wheels then the dust is embedded in the metal iirc, happed to the contessas i have. pain in the ass

Chrome or just alloy?

Sonax Extreme Full effect wheel cleaner.
Pick up from autobahn, I know slacks creek has it. Lil bit exy but does a fantastic job. Spray on hose off. Yours might need a bit of a scrub though. It smells like perming solution as well, kinda weird.

thanks guys, they're 2001 alloys, and doubt they have ever been washed since new.

will try the autsol or sonax with a scrubbing brush.

The wheels are a strange texture, rough, but smooth.

(its the wheels in my sig, trying to get them look like that before someone buys them ^_^)

So this week I picked up the new project, freshly imported from the US. :hsdance:

Currently planning out everything which led me to start looking at wheels.

What. The. Fuck.

Does no one make anything decent anymore? All I can find is POS 20" billet wheels that look like aids.

Can anyone recommend some decent muscle car style wheels?

I know there are things like convo pros, but they've been done to death. Weld pro-stars / cragars etc but none really grab me.

Is there anything else out there or do I have to wait til the massive billet wheel fad is over.

Oh, and have a set of Weld draglites already so can't suggest them and originals are out of the question.

pics of project please!!

and wheels? dunno, it is up to your taste. I have draglites on the coupe. what about those GTS/rallie style 17's? I want them bad for my q'ee... look really good imo

they really need to suit the style of your car though.

Pics will have to wait til tomorrow, it's raining too much outside and I'm nice & cosy :hsdance:

Unfortunetly it's not overly rare these days, but has been my favourite for as long as I can remember so I'm happy to finally have one (sounds kinda stupid given that I'm only 21, but anyway...) - 1968, American, 402 big block - should give you a pretty good idea, haha.

I'm pretty much one of those guys that thinks muscle cars should keep with muscle car kinda wheels, not a fan of big chrome wheels on them. I never realised how small the market is though (or atleast appears to be to me).

The only exception I've found so far are Fikse FM5's which come in 17" and 18" - range from $800-$1000 per wheel.

But I still want to see what other old school styles I can find. What are they GTS/rallie ones like?

Go to wheelboyz at Yatala mate. Have a look around and talk to the older blokes that work there, they will help you out!

You talking the ShowWheels style?

http://www.americanracing.com/browse_vintage.asp

there... that site should help you out.

I thing wheelboyz or whatever it is are the dealers for these anyways.

I have a mate that bought a CAMARO :hsdance: not long ago, but a 73. he bought the torque thrusts in 15's for it to keep that retro look. glad he did, as now I have his welds!!

the 500's are what I want for my car.

that said, a set of original rallie wheels (not on that page) would look really good too. I am going to get away from 15's eventually, too hard to find decent tyres for them. all the bigger sizes are now in larger diameters.

PICS..... the sun is shining now!!!!!!

Well I got some, but they're pretty bad, haha. Was using a very dodgey old camera so apologies for the quality.

Pretty much the plan is to redo everything from the ground up, want everything done properly this time round. Planned out majority of things, bar the wheels and interior colour.

Panel wise its the best I've seen - only rust is a little bit in the rear left guard and a couple of small bubbles in the doors. The floor and rails are perfect!

Also undecided whether I'm going to go with a pro-charger or not. :noes:

Anyway...

IT'S ALIIIVE!!!!

...after a lot of work, I finally managed to get my HJ fired up today!
It's currently running straight through the headers and it's a 6, so it sounds like a tractor!
Also, it's running like crap - I'll have to muck around with the holley a bit.

And about the pro charger, I'm not a fan of these on old skool muscle.
Looks the part in an engine bay full of plastic covers and wires that seem to go to nowhere with other random shit like pod filters everywhere, but old skool, you need a roots blower.

But whatever tickles your fancy I guess.....
Also I understand the aspect of wanting it blown and all under bonnet, but whats wrong with going down the path of a nice gt45 or twin TO4z's?

As much as I love your HQ, I don't think I'll be getting rid of this for quite a while, haha. Went through it all this weekend and happy with everything, should be good fun. Only problem I can see so far is it will be running an aftermarket fuel cell, so I'll need to plumb that up to the original filler (thanks Qld Transport). Apart from that should be smooth sailing!

Will definitely post updates as I go through though.

Only reason I'm looking at a pro-charger is I want it on the streets and as cool as the standard superchargers look hanging through the bonnet, I don't really wanna get pulled over every time I go out.

I know it's not as clean as a N/A engine, but a set-up like this doesn't seem overly messy.

Either way, that will be something I'll look into further down the track. Plus the BB should be plenty of fun for now coming from a 250. :)

Jordan

a 402 is way too small a 502 would be heaps better... built for blowers too!!

better still, a 572 would be heaps good.

402 is legal in an HQ, if you ever want to sell it off, let me know please, I would be very interested in purchasing something like that. even consider a deal with my engine for it...... a very fun motor is mine!!

on another note, my car is readers car of the month is November Street Machine mag. pretty happy with that!! (haven't seen it yet though.
