There's more in there than you'd think. I reckon close to 10kg.

Finished gutting the interior of ours today, oil is draining right now.

We need some brake pads!

Look back a few pages we have a package deal for brakes.

How much for the pads alone?

And what kind of helmets/race suits do you have?

How much are the suspension packages you're offering?

BTW I can't find anything at all in the shop on your website.

This looks like an excellent series! I have a bad feeling that despite mentioning that 5 cars hanging around really is enough, that we are going to end up with an excel in the future.

I will try to come out and take some photos of these bad boys in action to :P

@#$! of a job, I spent most of the time trying to undo the crank pully bolt

Ok step by step, I might miss something though

Drain radiator, disconnect battery etc etc
remove all belts PS, ALT, AC
remove PS pump
unbolt top alternator bolt swing away
remove top engine mount
remove pully off water pump
jack up car remove drivers side wheel
remove lower plastic trim
remove lower crank pullies
remove timing belt cover
you have couple of options from here, while it is all pulled apart it is the best time to change the timing belt but this is up to you
option 1- leaving timing belt alone and work around it
option 2 - remove/change timing belt

I did option 1 as this motor will be swapped out in the next couple of months so I dont care if it breaks

remove the water pump 4 bolts the top bolt need the timing belt moved a little but it easily enough done
then but it back the opposite way it was taken apart

Yer i wanted to cut one too because my pod is a bit too big and it hits the bonnet when it's closed.

I did the CV's on my car last night, turned out to be pretty straightforward which was good.
This is my first front wheel drive car, so far they seem pretty straight forward to work on.

Not sure if I will have it ready for this weekend or not, water pump needs doing as well.

We have 6 Excels entered for this Sunday
entry list is here - clicky clicky

AMS is making the race numbers for the Excel series which we are giving to the Excel's for FREE.

The Numbers are Being Sponsored by Real Dyno Performance, so if your in Kippa Ring and need help give them a try, they have just built two excel race cars to run in the series, ask for Lee 3284 1925

Southside - Absolute Automotive - Michael ph 3209 4711

The 3 guys above will help you with your cars or parts if you need them.

If your after a car try Nick or Ana from ANA Autos - 0404304876 or 0431517477

just looking on car sales.. they seem to be averaging $1500 with high 100ooo low 200ooo on the clock... that sound right?? seems pricey for a coke can

trackattack
Post #307

I would have said between $300 to $1000
condition ranging from needing mechanical work and shitty paint through to a road worthy condition one.
I have seen quite a few sell on ebay between $500 to $800
the dear ones dont sell and get relisted cheaper

there is an early one on ebay for $100 at the moment which looks quite tidy, and another one for $50 with a fucked clutch.

you could also try Park Ridge Wrecking at Loganlea, they are advertising excel parts and wreckers often buy whole cars that may suit what we are doing.

is there any common problems or things that should be addressed on these things before taking them out?

The cv's are probably the most common issue, you will hear them clacking when taking a tight corner at low speed.
the water pumps are often stuffed on the high k ones as well.

other than that they seem to be a pretty tough engine
mine has 292'000 k's on it and made 65hp :) on the dyno at RDP

Make that 7 Excels running this sunday :)

We'll be running as well as. so there's another one to add... havn't yet registered.

Has anyone managed to get a set of 205's on 15's fitted yet? I'm trying to find some rims and want to make sure they will fit.

Hey Wasas,

If your coming this sunday confirm as soon as you can.
It keeps the time keepers happy if we get the entries in as early as possible (and saves on late fee's)
plus I am getting the numbers made up as each car enters, so need to give AMS notice to get the sticker printing done.

I trial fitted the wheels off my datsun as they have the same PCD, but as suspected the RWD offset doesnt suit.
also the nuts that hold the hub/rotor on the excel foul on the back of the datsun wheels which are not recessed.

has anybody tried a set of stock wheels off a 180sx ?

I measured it up and I seriously doubt they will fit. Bloke down at the wheel shop agrees....but i'm happy for someone to prove me wrong :)
