hey all, just happened to stumble upon the definition of a bogan. For those with a stick up their arse, this is only light hearted...

What are bogans you ask?
Bogans are the neo-rural moderns of Australia.
They are a droll breed of suburbanites from Eastern Australia. You know that dream you had about taking all the Jovi fans in Jersey and dropping them in the middle of the outback? Well it came true!

You may find gatherings of bogans in the parking lot of the Doncaster or Traralgon Shopping Centre, wearing form-fitted acid wash jeans, singlets, moccassins and grey cardigans, smoking Winnie Blues, drinking UDLs, threatening families and performing burnouts in Toranas.

A booming Australian real-estate market, along with the increased globalization of culture and Ugg Boots appearing on Oprah, has threatened the survival of the bogan.
But one man has single-handedly pulled them back from extinction.
That man is Russell Crowe.
Old bogan culture talks of a man with fire in his eyes and flannel on his chest who will one day come and bring their people to the promised land and dammit that man is Russell Crowe.
What Grand Mal is to seizures, Crowe is to bogans.

A fascinating beast. The majority of the species are hideously repugnant and unintelligent, and yet they manage to breed in ever-increasing numbers and populate an area known as the outer west. It is quite common to find five or six offspring in each family group, often with a different father for each new baby.
Their habitat consists of a weatherboard or brick-veneer dwelling and is characterised by an early-model Holden or Ford in the driveway surrounded by a group of males discussing why the carby is stuffed and the results of last night's footy (a primitive gladiator-like spectator sport enjoyed by most bogans).
The female of the species, while smaller in stature, is far more loud and aggressive than the male. While the males tend to be very friendly and congregate with other males, the females spend most of their time in supermarkets and shopping malls, using a shrill high-pitched call to discipline their children and contact other females.
Males and females rarely interact socially except during breeding season, which is otherwise known as Friday night. During this time, females are allowed to enter the male-dominated area known as "the pub" and display their impressive coloured plumage to a prospective mate.
Herein lies an intersting phenomenon. Males will often fight over a particularly attractive female and she will mate with only one male, while some less attractive females have been known to have several partners simultaneously.

Ahhhh. The wonders of nature.

It depends if you are one of those bogans that rock on out to willowbank with say 7 kids an esky and a whinging wife that whinges while you sit on ure seat blocking everyones view whilst u sit there feeding you face with the Footy pants on...

I think the definition of bogan needs to be updated. Does ANYONE smoke winnie blues anymore? Real bogans smoke Holiday/Horizon. Any kind of Rugby League clothing (provided its older than 5 years, before your team updated their colours/logo), a beanie of any kind, and hair similar to any 80s metal band are a good start.

I dont actually live in Newy I live in Raymond Terrace which is about 20Kms away but yes in my town there is a few areas with comission houses that are full of bogans, thankfully I dont live in these areas. smile.gif

The only thing that would give away that im a bogan is I wear thongs all the time thats it, I always wear nice clothes and I dont smoke at all.

I think everyone on here is a bogan to some extent. smile.gif

If it were'nt for bogans we wouldn't have a construction industry therefore we would have no houses or office buildings. Those bogans are cool, they've been given a name which seperates them from the usual bogans (tradies). It's the bogans that you speak of that disgust me. Breeders with no personal hygene and no moral fibre. People who live for purposes nul void in this world and thrive on government pensions to get their fix of alchohol and tobacco while wearing the same clothes day in day out until they tear and fall to peices. But not all their unearnt cash gets loaded into personal addictions, they every now and then like to splurge their cash on a new set of tyres and a carby to go out and terrorise people doing burnouts and donuts in public venues to get attention from people who have meaning to exist.

There is no bogan in me. Thank God.

this is from another website about definition of a bogan...
"some attributes of bogans might be: tight jeans, tight t-shirts, cigarettes, loud music, bad haircuts, swearing, not a particularly high income bracket, and a hotted up car." well this site is full of what they term "hotted up" cars with big sound systems, plenty of swearing etc, so guess what? you have bogan tendencies too so welcome to the club wavey.gif

Come on mate you must have bogan in you, I mean you must like Beer or Spirits and Football or Cricket or doing some other bogan activity. smile.gif

We're all Aussies here right? (Except people from over seas obviously) so we all must do something that is Aussie which therefore is bogan.

My old man is a pretty big bogan.He has a barbwire tattoo on his arm and he always wears stubbies, thongs and a singlet but he is also one of the nicest blokes you'll ever meet. smile.gif

Bogans are fine with me thumbsup.gif what shits me is metro-sexual mummies boys who just because they are fortunate enough to live in a affluant suburb , have mummy buy them a car (mostly imports) somehow think they are somehow better than someone who comes from a less welloff background and has to slowerly build up there car rather than have it bought for them ! give me a Bogan as a Mate anyday over some spoilt metro-sexual Brat rant2.gif

My parents bought me my VL but since I havent been able to find a job yet I feel awfull knowing that every single cent that gets spent on that car comes out of their own money and I feel like shit. sad.gif

If I had a job I would've been more then happy to buy a shitbox Auto VL for $500 and slowly work up. smile.gif

Anyway being a bogan isnt as bad as its made out to be, like Sandman_350 said I would rather have a bogan as a mate then some spoilt little shit because he thinks his R33 is the top shit even though he has'nt spent a dime on it. rolleyes.gif
