So i decided i was going to try something a little different, as the title states, Matte Black Not much to tell really, i've been spending my hours after work for the last few weeks, progressively wrapping my 34 in Matte black vinyl. Im using an Avery 900 series for anyone interested. Its been a long process so far, and a steep learning curve as i work with vinyl on a daily basis, but haven't ever attempted wrapping anything on this scale. Been trying to keep taking photos as i go. Originally posted this up on SAU but thought id share it else where as well Some work on the finer details... Now the rear bar, car is nearly complete at this stage, with the only thing remaining being the bootlid getting the centre tail light welded and re-sprayed, then the vinyl will go on |

Fantastic job! I wouldn't have the patience to attempt something like this Cheers Grant, Im surprised you didn't see the thread on SAU where it all started And yeah it certainly tested my patience, but im happy with how its come Always undecided on matte black. Something I think it looks tuff other times it just looks cheap and nasty. As long as your happpy though. Each to their own i guess, it's not going to be everyones taste but that's cool with me Absolutely loving this Steve. Can't wait to see it in person!! You have done an amazing job and you should be really proud of yourself Thanks heaps Belinda, in another few weeks you'll see her in person! Win!! looks tough to do man... props for your skills/commitment! Attention to detail is epic too! Cheers dude, There is actually still a fair way to go for my own personal liking, in the door jams and small nooks and crannies, mostly since i've gone from white to black which means any small bits of white can be seen through |

EVO, the uk mag vinyl wrapped their R35 GTR in midnight purple, looked hot. I would defiantly look into this if I wanted a colour change. It is a great option for a color change, Im already planning to do more cars, (not necessarily in matte black, but even in gloss colors) What's more, if you get tired of it, it can be removed quite easily and your original paint is un-harmed underneath, that is of course if you had decent paint to begin with, if you are applying this over crappy peeling paint, expect that its going to peel some off with the vinyl as you remove it. |

How tough is the vinyl in terms of cleaning it and its resistance to rock chips/shopping trolley dents? |

I like it. As others have asked, what's the cost to wrap a full car and what is the durability like? |

You have literally taken the idea out of my head and put it into real life, i love you for this! lol My plan for about a year now has been to buy a r34 When i get off my P's, make it matt black, and i also want to use vinyl (for this benefits of easily removing it, keeping the original paint job brand new etc etc) But as im sure we have all had an amazing idea, that just doesnt turn out to be so amazing in real life, so i wasnt quite sure about it, but now that I can see a real life reference, my/your idea is awesome, looks awesome and i'll definately be doing it now (sorry not copying you or anything ) As said above it obviously needs the right wheels to complete this thing, which im sure you are getting to, so good luck with that choice because it could really set the car off nicely with the right rims. If you dont mind me asking, how much did it cost you to do this? Thanks fx, this is only stage I of my plans for the wrap, more to come in the next few weeks, Not worried about u doing the same, i believe they say imitation is the greatest form of flattery |
