Welcome to the Sprint racing thread for 2008 where all things sprint racing can be discussed.  Our main topic is covering Boosters who sprint race out at Queensland Raceway (http://www.queenslandraceway.com.au/) but if you prefer hill climbing out at Mount Cotton or Warrick please feel free to add in with updates or just generally have a chat about car mechanics and setup  Some of the more experienced sprint racers have gone onto Top Gear for next year and we'd like to hear back from them every now and again to see how they are progressing in the grid racing format. Less unwritten and more voiced - If someone faster comes up behind you, you should move left and let them pass you. There isn't supposed to be any overtaking anywhere but the two straights, but when you're in a competitive bunch it does happen. I maintain my line through corners and move out of the way if someone wants to pass me. Obviously it's their responsibility to do it safely and will be their fault if something goes wrong. yea, im looking forward to getting it back into it next year. I had a bit of a play last thursday at the time attack... they only ran the clubman track (thanks to the torrent of water running across the crossover) I did take some time off my best clubman time (even with a nice wet bit of track coming out of the dipper into snake bend |

I need bigger carbs and I have an electronic ignition system to go in for a bit more power. Is there any events apart from Powercruise where you can just go out and wind her up along the straights? Not worrying about times, racing or anything - i just want to go out and flog the bitch! |

You could do this on sprints events as long as you held decent speed throughout the rest of the course (or do like others and pretend you have mechanical failure and sit off the race line)... You only get 5 laps though (3 sessions of 5 laps that is), so whether it is worth it or not is your call... |

I personally havn't driven it yet - the old boy and my brother run it at the top gear meets. She's only gonna get quicker once the new motor gets back

Really i just want to give it a strap and stretch its legs. The drags are fun, but with streetable diff gears its only going half cocked as it runs through the traps. And stretching the legs to top speed on the street would probably see me in jail and the Torana in an impound yard for a few months, even with a perfect 12 year driving record! |
