Mysterious Utility
Imported ISUZU MU 4x4
I have decided to put my MU up for sale with a bit of regret. I have started uni again and dont have the time to go 4wding and cannot afford to keep both of my cars, since this is the least used it must go.
I believe it to be a 93 model MU but it may be newer. It was imported to australia in 2000 and mod plated, legalised and registered in queensland and is currently registered until december, the last roadworthy was done in december 2010 about 4 months ago
I wanted to sell it unregistered and without a roadworthy cert since i am in NSW and dont have much time to do the safety, but for the right price i would get a safety certificate done and leave on the rego. it is a very good 4wd and has mainly only done urban 4wding (roundabouts gutter ditches etc...) and used to tow a tinny (small boat)
what it would need done for roadworthy (the BAD):
Muffler joints sealed. The resonator had a crack in it so i replaced it with a hilux one just needs a wrap around the joins to seal it properly or i got quoted $150 for a performance muffler all fitted.
engine bay wash or powersteering pump leak fixed. the powersteering pump has a bit of a leak that drips a bit on the fan belt which then gets blown around the engine bay. this was present when the last roady was done.
and THE GOOD:
good tread on tyres easily pass roadworth 31 x 10.5 all terrain tyres
over $4000 of work done in 2009 on brakes aircon and other things. i had the recipt for almost $4000 done which included replacing virtually the whol brake assemblies, new aircon system and major service. a bit before that the head was replaced along with radiator, timing belt and all associated parts, i didnt get the recipt for this but i could see the difference in metals and new gaskets.
really cold aircon
good 4wd
100mm lift kit all engineered (i was told its the highest leagal lift to get)
good suspension
good brakes
nice soundsystem
plenty of take off power
2 towbars ront and back (the 3 years prior to me having it, it was used just to drive a large boat into the water and out, they used the front towbar)
no rust
no crashes
good paint for age
overall just a very different and sexy 4WD get good comments often from strangers
great 4wd and in future when i can afford to have several cars i will get another one.
open to swap offers as i want to find a car for my partner. cheers. the car is currently located in Lismore NSW
